In some ways it’s easy having four children — it means that there are three other bodies to help you with the baby!

After I feed and cuddle Delaney, I usually place her in whichever room the girls are playing in. That way she gets used to the noise level, is entertained by their antics, and in turn, they are entertained by entertaining her!

Over time, Calista has learned how to be gentle with the baby, and I don’t worry about them being together anymore. Brioni is very boisterous around Dell and liable to step on her, but she’s learning too.

Aisha, especially, really enjoys interacting with Dell.

As I feed Dell during rest-time, Aisha comes out to ask me if I can put Dell in her room when the feed is finished.

Aisha plays a very fast game of peek-a-boo with Dell, who loves it!

David, of course, is also a big help with the baby. It’s interesting that he notices when Dell cries if I am not around, but it passes unnoticed if I am. But Dell does fret a bit around the time when I’m getting tea ready.

Today, David took Dell and the three other girls outside while I was preparing dinner. I found them in the back of his truck, lounging around.

Aisha likes to set up a play area around the baby, filling it with lots of interesting things for Dell to look at.

"Ho hum," says Delaney. "My thumb is more interesting."

My clever little baby is rolling onto her back and back over onto her tummy now. She much prefers to be on her tummy, as I've always put her to sleep that way.
