I came home from the library tonight with a big stack of books on the Passover which will fall on April 1 this year.
We’re thinking about combining the Jewish Seder tradition with a re-enactment of Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples, including a commentary on all the symbolism in the tradition that points to Jesus as the ultimate fulfilment.
We thought it would be a meaningful way to commemorate Jesus’ death and are hoping to build it into a family tradition.
For this first year, I’m going to work out an order of events and seek input from all parties attending so we don’t forget any elements or miss any symbolism.
Have any readers ever celebrated Passover, either as part of a Jewish community or as a Christian?

I have celebrated the Messianic Passover multiple times with my family and at their church here in Michigan. In fact, I’m pretty sure my mother has access (and can email you) a copy of an excellent Messianic Passover “script”. It is the traditional ritual, but with elements added that recognize the coming of the Messiah. If you contact her (maybe through FB?) she can point you in the right direction.

Oo! I’m hoping we get invited to the stepdaughter’s BF’s family celebration again this year. I made a note to look up “charoset” recipes – it’s a delicious apple/cinnamon/wine/sugar mixture that’s part of the ceremony. But people put it in (flourless) cupcakes and stuff now, too. Yum. Of course, you notice, I focus on the food.
Seriously – I love the seder supper and all the symbolism that carries over to the new covenant we can share in. Keep us posted.

I am glad that you are interested,Lauren. If we had not been called by God to go to West Africa,I may have pursued my other dream, that was to work among Jewish people. This came about when a good friend and daughter of a rabbi became a Christian in Sydney. I still receive some literature from a Messianic Jewish ministry but nothing actually concerning passover.
