When 40 metres is too far to walk, Skype!
18 November 09
For as long as we’ve had my computer, we’ve had the technical ability to Skype with a webcam, but until I brought home David’s new-beaut model from Hong Kong, we never bothered setting it up. Suddenly, the ability to talk to David in the shed (or for him to talk to me in the house) is very important, and so we Skype each other several times a day.

In the past, Aisha has been reticent to talk on the phone — even objecting to talking to me in Hong Kong or David when he was last in New Zealand. But with the webcam, she’s starting to get the hang of things.
So is it just the same as work colleagues using an internal phone system or is it laziness to Skype across your own back yard? 40 metres? Out the door, down the steps, across the lawn and into the shed? Skype wins, hands-down!

So, my dearest get-away-from-petroleum-based-society woman, will you have Internet access where you’re headed in NZ?

She’d better have! Otherwise she’s not allowed to move!

Matt and I skype each other when we’re in the same room, without the video feed. I generally get a quicker response when I skype then when I talk to him directly. Its TERRIBLE but so easy. I was trying to remember our lives pre-skype the other day, and I couldn’t do it.
