Today was a hot day. Even the breeze that came into the house was straight from the surface of the sun. I said to David that it was perhaps time we brought the fans out of storage so that we didn’t swelter so much, so that’s how hot it was. (The weather bureau backs me up with this, recording a 35°C day.)

To cool off after rest time, I set up our trusty wading pools. The two separate pools provided enough variety to suit the jaded 4yo and kept the toddler busy moving between them. Delightful.

Aisha loved jumping up and down in the wading pool.

Cali liked trying to drink the water from the little indentations on the side of the pool but wasn't keen to get fully wet.

Brioni, 3yo, November 2009
The "downstairs" pool was placed in the shade on a dry patch of lawn.

Calista, 19 months old, November 2009
Calista kept alternating between the two wading pools, which meant she had to climb the steps from the backyard up to the house's lawn level.

Am I the only one who thinks B is absolutely gorgeous?
