Learning to listen
24 September 09
The girls have started deliberately listening to the music I put on for them. I occasionally play stories for them to listen to, but even with children’s music, Aisha often sits on the couch to listen carefully to the songs.
At the end of one silly song by Australian artist Colin Buchanan, he says (in a “mummy” voice): “Time to go to your teeth and brush the toilet.”
Upon hearing this, Brioni said, “The mummy’s silly. She said ‘go to your teeth and brush the toilet’.” Aisha responded with, “No, they’re just big kids who can brush the toilet.”
Two children, same environment — one very literal, one with a highly developed sense of humour.

After the mammoth dust storm from yesterday, I have to re-clean the house. (Twice in one week — what is the world coming to?) So we’ve been home all day, and I’ve done just about everything except clean the house. So call up and say that you’re stopping by for a cuppa, and I’ll whiz into action!

Me, too! Me, too! Coming over for a cuppa….
And why are those childrens’ shoes on the couch? (asks the childless woman knowing those readers with children are rolling their eyes now)
