I thought it was about time we captured a portrait of our family.

Fishers, September 2009
Our lovely family: Calista just wants to know what her sisters are doing; Aisha doesn't want to smile for the man holding the camera; Brioni is happy to smile but is distracted by something else; David and I are consummate posers.

At church today, the girls didn’t go out for Sunday School because it’s school holidays. I’m not really sure of the logic of that — perhaps it’s because they want to give the SS teachers a holiday too (?). So I’m glad I had brought a collection of pens and paper to keep them quietly amused.

Aisha, 4yo, September 2009
Aisha started writing our family names, something that is extremely distracting as she asks me for the next letter!

Brioni, 3yo, September 2009
Brioni sat and drew pictures without making a fuss.

Calista, 17 months old, September 2009
Calista is happily occupied taking the lids of and putting the lids back onto pens. I deliberately use the pens where the ink washes out so I don't have to worry about stray nibs.

After church, the girls get to eat some of the left-over communion bread as a snack (and hopefully in the interim all the unhealthy snacks at the back of the church are finished off). They know they need to sit down to be eating, and today they chose to sit up on stage where they could watch the older boys chasing each other around.
