Just being in the "big top" was an exciting experience for the girls!

I felt a new lease on life on Saturday. It was my first day out after being sick all week, and the girls have been so good that we decided to reward/celebrate with a visit to the circus!

David and I can hardly remember when we were last at the circus. I think that I was in 3rd or 4th grade when the circus came to Bouaké, and I got to go two or three times. It was terribly exciting then, and when David and I arrived at the Lennon Brothers Circus, we thought “oh, it’s pretty small”.

However, we were pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of the acts, the rapid change between sets andvariety of the performances. Our favourite act was a Chilean couple performing on the “wheel of death”. The kids liked the range of animals — miniature horses, llamas, a monkey, lions — and they liked the excrutiatingly awful clown.

Despite the looks on their faces, the girls really enjoyed each act in the circus. (Calista slept through the whole thing.)

It was great to be out and about. If you have a chance, take your kids. They’ll love it, and you may be surprised at how much you enjoy it yourself!
