A dead snake can't bite.

The red-belly black snake is infamous in our part of Australia. Venomous and prolific, it doesn’t always have a red belly, but it’s usually black. When we see one, we know it’s bad.

We had one of these beauties up by the house this afternoon. It was just a little one, but from little ones, big things grow!

I know there are some slithering around, because I’ve seen them out the front too, but this was the first one that dared to come too close. After I took this photo, Calista came out to where we were, crawling just where the snake had been only moments before. (Shudder.)
