We’re almost there. We still have some niggly, little things to do — a bit of painting, one drawer handle, a cabinet door and some corners to finish. But the kitchen looks great, don’t you think?

We still have a bit of painting to do around the fridge cavity. David custom-built the cabinets around the rangehood. And here's my beautiful, new oven!

We're still missing one cabinet door. It's at the spray painter's, being held as ransom until David installs his floorcoverings (we swapped floorcoverings for painting). I love all the deep drawers, but Calista can open them very easily.

The island bench means I can walk easily from the sink to the table. David covered the benches and the walls (for splashbacks) with commercial sheet vinyl, giving the kitchen a uniform, clean appearance.

We left a space at the end of the under-window cabinets for our chest freezer. It's terrific not having to trek through the house to another room to dig through the freezer for frozen peas.
