The DFF Book Club

The Jesus Storybook Bible was introduced to me by a friend at my ladies’ Bible study. It’s a storybook — not strictly Bible readings — but the stories have been rewritten to include to reference of God’s master plan for humanity’s redemption through Jesus. We recently started this book for our breakfast readings, and the girls enjoy the animated stories and whimsical illustrations.

From the back cover:

The Jesus Storybook Bible tells the story beneath all the stories in the Bible. It takes the whole Bible to tell this story. And at the centre of the story, there is a baby, the child upon whom everything would depend. From Noah to Moses to King David, every story whispers his name. Jesus is like the missing piece in a puzzle — the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together.

I've made a habit of reading a Bible story to the girls as they eat breakfast each morning, rather than saving the daily Bible reading for bedtime.

I’m enjoying the simpler style of Bible stories, but I feel that it misses a lot of important stories that are relevant and interesting to young children. So after we’ve completed this book, unless something else comes up, I’ll switch back to my more traditional, old-fashioned Bible storybook.
