Yesterday I planned a wonderful surprise for the girls. I didn’t explain what we were doing, but we dressed quickly after dinner and then headed out in the car for an outing. The local library was hosting a bedtime storytime session.

The woman who read the stories was very animated and natural-sounding. I really liked her style, and she kept the children captivated. (Calista only has eyes for me!)

Brioni fell asleep after about ten minutes (about 6.45 pm). Aisha stayed awake and was later rewarded with milk and biscuits.

We managed to check out some of the books chosen by the librarian, and so Aisha is enjoying them again and again at home. With a much smaller group of kids than the daytime story sessions, there are fewer distractions and more storytelling.

I think we’ll return for the evening activity next month.
