Aisha, 3yo, August 2008
Unprompted, Aisha wrote her own name this morning without copying it from anywhere. (It looks like we just made her name-spelling-change in time — any later and she may have been confused!)

Aisha’s reading and letter comprehension is moving forward in leaps and bounds. One added bonus of working through a phonics program is that her speech impediments are disappearing as she learns how to pronounce each letter’s sound.

Previously, I was concerned about her hard c sound, which usually was spoken as a t or d, but yesterday when we introduced the letter c, we found she could say words like “cold”, “Calista” and “cat” clearly. She also breezed through the th sound, so I’ve relaxed and stopped worrying about her mispronunciations.
