We’ve had several conversations about tattoos in our family. Benjy recently came home with a triangle on his calf, and the girls have enjoyed temporary tattoos. So when Aisha asked David why he didn’t have a tattoo, David invited them to give him one.

At the beginning, we limited the girls to two pens. Aisha chose a green pen, and Brioni the red.

I brought out those washable markers, and they set to work on David. It’s an excellent playing idea for the parent who is tired (much like being the patient to their doctors), because all you have to do is lie down while your kids draw all over you.

Aisha and Brioni drew pictures, letters, coloured in David’s nipples and lips, and generally had a lot of fun. Soon Aisha and Brioni were asking to be drawn on as well. David made his own fun by drawing underarm hair on Aisha and completely covering their faces.

It didn't take long for the girls to ask David to draw on them too. We brought out more colours, and David had as much fun as the girls! (In this picture, check out David's neatly coloured nipples.)

If we ever need to start face painting, I want to remember this, because using these markers is a lot easier than working with face paint.
