On our children’s birthdays, I interview them, asking them the same set of questions each year. This allows us to see how they’re changing and if they have interests that remain the same. I call these the Birthday Interviews. This is Delaney’s first interview.

What are you going to be when you grow up?
I’m going to be a big girl.

What’s that going to be like?
It’s going to be like when I whistle. 


What are your favourite toys?
These toys — in the bus! (Dell currently particularly enjoys a wooden dinosaur and a little stuffed dog.)

Who are your best friends?
Them (pointing to her sisters) — in the bus too.

What makes you happy?

Tickles. You must tickle me.

What makes you sad?
Missing David.

When you dream at night, what do you dream about?
About my footies (her pyjamas).

What do you like to do with David?
Kiss and cuddle and tickle.

What do you like to do with Lauren?
Tickle her feet. (She demonstrates this.)

What’s your favourite colour?
Blue and green.

What’s your favourite book?
About birdies. (Possibly our Field Guide?)

What does David do during the day?
I don’t know.

What does Lauren do during the day?

Crochet flowers. (She pointed, and Aisha filled in the words.)
