In this part of the world, May is a glorious time of year as the days are cool enough to work outdoors. With the first chill in the air, I always start thinking of the gardening projects I can dig into, and this year is no exception.

My main project this autumn will be a vegie garden attached to a chook run. We haven’t kept chickens since early last year when the earthworks for the shed construction meant we had to pass the chooks to a close neighbour for safeguarding.

I love gardening. When we bought this house, the backyard was blah, and now it has shape and features and more shrubs than you can shake a stick at. I have ideas for play areas for the girls and even an inground trampoline. However, for now, I must concentrate on this chook run. Will keep you posted!
